Where "generic" CPD fits in 2026
CEA's 2026 CPD framework has two parts: Structured Learning (Prescribed Essentials and Professional Competencies) and Self-directed Learning (SDL). Generic Competencies Plus (GC Plus) sits under SDL. It covers SkillsFuture's Critical Core Skills and other relevant knowledge.
SDL hours are not uploaded by the course provider. Your estate agency verifies them using supporting documents, such as our Certificate of Attendance, and records them in CPDS.

Is a generic CPD course the same as SDL?
In CEA's 2026 framework, Generic Competencies Plus (GC Plus) is part of Self-directed Learning (SDL). It covers SkillsFuture's Critical Core Skills and other relevant knowledge. You need at least 4 SDL hours in each CPD cycle.
Who approves my SDL course?
Your Key Executive Officer (KEO) at your estate agency must approve the course attendance. Check with your KEO before you book.
Who records my SDL hours in CPDS?
Your estate agency verifies SDL hours using supporting documents, such as the Certificate of Attendance we email after the class, and records them in CEA's CPD System (CPDS). Course providers do not upload SDL hours.
Can SDL hours count towards PE or PC?
No. Hours in one category cannot be counted towards another. You still need at least 4 Prescribed Essentials hours and at least 8 Professional Competencies hours.
